Re-use Your Browsing History by ‘Hooeey’ Tool

How many times you have forgotten a web page that you visited earlier to get some important information? Well, now there is a web application -- Hooeey, which is claimed to be an efficient tool to access browsing history.

"Hooeey enables internet users to re-use their browsing history in a productive manner to reduce time spent in searching for previously visited web pages, to easily share interesting web pages with others and use the provided dashboard to manage their browsing time more efficiently," Hooeey`s Managing Director Rajiv Purnaiya said.

While providing a safe and universal platform for the entire browsing experience, Hooeey delinks the browser history from the browser. Additionally, it adds a social networking layer, allowing one to share specific sites with others, both on Hooeey network and other social Bookmarking services.
Hooeey services can be accessed for free at
www.hooeey.com.

"Our main focus is to save time and effort of the users by leveraging it tools and adopting a different approach that combines seamless web hop recording with complete transparency and user control," Rajiv said.

  • Hooeey allows users to track their browsing history from any search engine and "also has the advantage on browser`s history files as it works on both platforms like internet explorer and firefox.
  • Hooeey provides facilities like automatically recording web hops, tagging of interesting sites while being online or offline, creating contact list and sending links to friends, besides having self-determinable folders to structure links.

"It is completely automatic and does not require any user intervention. The application can be plugged into your browser and then a user can create a Hooeey online account if he wishes to store the information," Rajiv said. "We are targeting the application at avid surfers, researchers, students and even journalists.

Enterprises and companies can also use Hooeey to aggregate the knowledge base that their employees are adding on a daily basis", he said. The company has kept its options open on suggestions made on the web application by the target audience, Rajiv said.

Viswanathan Anand draws with Topalov, maintains LEAD

World Champion Viswanathan Anand of INDIA maintained his slender half point lead after playing an eventful draw with former world champion Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria in the sixth round of the Morelia-Linares chess tournament.

Anand took his tally to four points out of a possible six after the end of the penultimate round of the event and is likely to play the second half at Linares as a leader when it begins in the Spanish hamlet on February 29th.

In the final round at Morelia, Anand meets Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine.
It was a game with wild complexities between Topalov and Anand. Playing white the Bulgarian went for a fashionable variation against Anand`s Nimzo Indian defense and the middle game that ensued ensured a keen tussle.

Topalov was able to open up black`s kind side after a couple of pawns and a set of minor pieces changed hands but soon after Anand was in his element in working out the country play. Topalov tried to attack on the slightly weakened king side but that was neutralised by Anand`s counter play around the center.

With eight rounds still to come, Aronian remained in sole second spot on 3.5 points while Radjabov eclipsed Carlsen from the joint third spot to share it now with Shirov and Topalov on 3 points each. Sharing the joint sixth spot now are Carlsen, Leko and Ivanchuk who all have 2.5 points in their kitty. Double bishops in chess are considered an excellent weapon when they spit fire in an open position. MAGNUC Carlsen learned it the hard way against Radjabov.

Ivanchuk and Shirov battled out for just 28 moves before sharing the point in a queen pawn opening while Leko mustered enough counter attack on the queen side at the expense of a pawn to keep Aronian at bay in an English opening game.
The game was drawn after 50 moves. Congratulations to Anand once again.

Thackeray, Left say IPL is not Cricket

Ominous signs are hovering over the Indian Premier League (IPL) as politicians, including Bal Thackeray and many from the Left, describe cricket’s all-new avataar as nothing but “Outrageous Gambling” and think it should be stopped.

Terming the auctioning of cricketers by the BCCI-promoted IPL as nothing short of “a gambling game of industrialists”, the Shiv Sena chief on Friday asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar to stop it forthwith. Along with Mr Thackeray, the Left parties, too, deplored the “pampering” of cricket at the expense of other games — be it hockey, football or athletics — which were being sidelined systematically. The auction of more than 60 players, including those from other Test-playing countries, was held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

In an open, and that too signed letter written to his friend, Mr Pawar, published on the front page of the Sena mouthpiece Saamna, Mr Thackeray took the line that such open display of money did not augur well for the Indian cricket where players are being auctioned off. “This will ruin the game,” the Sena supremo, a known cricket buff, sounded critical of the move.

Top leaders of the CPM, the CPI and the Forward Bloc demanded that the Centre probe the source of “hundreds of crores of rupees of black money” being spent on the auction of Indian cricketers and that how a senior member of the government was associated with the “outrageous gambling”. Veteran parliamentarian and senior CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta expressed “sheer outrage” and said the whole exercise was a total denigration of sports of cricket. “It will not only spoil the future of this game, but make every youngster not a good sportsman but a man hungry for money,” he added.

Mr Dasgupta didn’t stop there — He even wants a full-fledged probe by the Centre of the source of money being showered on cricketers. “I demand the Centre must look into the source of this huge black money, especially when the country is having the highest number of hungry people in the world,” Mr Dasgupta said. He also raised question over the role played by a senior Union minister, referring to agriculture minister Mr Pawar, also chairman of the BCCI.

His comrade, D Raja, CPI national secretary, thinks that cricket has become a business for which money decides everything. “It’s become the most pampered game in the country and the government’s role must be looked into for this sorry state of affairs,” he said. He also slammed the government for not having any comprehensive sports and games policy with the result that adequate funds had not been provided to promote athletics and other games.

For Shiv Sena chief Mr Thackeray, the entire exercise about the IPL started only to checkmate Indian Cricket League, the rival league promoted by Subhash Chandra-led Essel Group. “Oh Pawar, what is happening in the realm of cricket?” was Mr Thackeray’s poser to Mr Pawar. “These industrialists are throwing money in your cricket field, as a result of which cricket is getting corrupt. Cricketers are being purchased, as a result of this their concentration will not be on the game and the sport will decline in this country.”

In one instance, alleged Sena men had damaged the ground at Wankhede Stadium in order to stop the India-Pakistan tie from going ahead. His tough stance against Pakistan after Kargil war had prevented the BCCI from hosting the neighbouring team in Mumbai. It will now be interesting to see how his partymen react and what steps the BCCI takes to avoid a confrontation.

Microsoft opens door to Open-Source

Microsoft is increasing the openness of its software to appease antitrust regulators and please businesses trending toward more diverse computer systems. Microsoft said on Thursday it is making "broad-reaching changes" to its technology and business practices to enhance the ease with which its software interacts with partners, customers and competitors.

"These steps represent an important step and significant change in how we share information about our products and technologies," said Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer.

"Our goal is to promote greater interoperability, opportunity and choice for customers and developers throughout the industry by making our products more open and by sharing even more information about our technologies." The US software giant has been gradually shedding its historically protective mindset regarding intellectual property as Microsoft veterans retire and new blood is hired, according to Silicon Valley analyst Rob Enderle.

"There has been an incremental shift in Microsoft's internal thinking that was given a significant jolt by the European Union," Enderle told reporters.

"The underpinnings for the decision are continued frustration with trying to find ways to keep the EU happy and more pressure from customers."

Microsoft's newly announced principles apply to all its top-selling software and fit a patent framework addressed by European courts, said Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith.

"Microsoft is taking all necessary steps to make sure we are in full compliance with European law," Smith said in a conference call. "The interoperability announcement represents the changed legal landscape for Microsoft and the technology industry."

EU competition regulators responded with a skeptical statement that "takes note" of Microsoft's "intention" to improve the compatibility of its software with rival products, but still voiced antitrust concerns.

"This announcement does not relate to the question of whether or not Microsoft has been complying with EU antitrust rules in this area in the past," the European Commission said.

US Missile successfully shoots down spy satellite.

US Missile successfully shoots down spy satellite:

A missile launched from a Navy ship successfully struck a dying US spy satellite passing 130 miles over the Pacific on Wednesday, a defense official said. Full details were not immediately available. It happened just after 9:00 am (10:30 pm EST). Two officials said the missile was launched successfully. One official, who is close to the process, said it hit the target. He said details on the results were not immediately known.

The goal in this first-of-its-kind mission for the Navy was not just to hit the satellite but to obliterate a tank aboard the spacecraft carrying 1,000 pounds of a toxic fuel called hydrazine.

US officials have said the fuel would pose a potential health hazard to humans if it landed in a populated area. Although the odds of that were small even if the Pentagon had chosen not to try to shoot down the satellite, it was determined that it was worth trying to eliminate even that small chance.

Officials said it might take a day or longer to know for sure if the toxic fuel was blown up.

Chennai bags Dhoni for $1.5 million for IPL

Dhoni stands on TOP for IPL auction:

It was auction fever at its peak, as the best cricketers from India and beyond were lined up and sold off by the IPL. Franchise owners such as SRK and Mallya vied in the bidding war that finally gave us the line-ups that will compete in the inaugural IPL tournament

Ishant attracts almost a million while Warne gets only one bid; Symonds, Dhoni and Harbhajan are most sought after, along with India’s T20 super-kids

Money flowed like water and millionaires splurged like only they can as frenzied bidding continued unabated for up to eight hours, with India’s World T20 champions raking in the moolah.

Liquor monarch Vijay Mallya and Bollywood superstar Shahrukh ‘King’ Khan, nowadays the most high-profile brand ambassadors of Indian sport, brought with them tons of panache and star value as they unusually arrived at an event taking place before noon.

But it was swiftly clear that Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be the undisputed emperor of the market-driven league, as auctioneer Richard Madley sold him for an astronomical $1.5 million, an unbelievable $1.1 million over his reverse price. Dhoni will have to shift his loyalties down south as the poster boy of Chennai Super Kings.

Three franchisees were neck-and-neck going into the final stretch for Dhoni and two went over the one million mark before the wicketkeeper-batsman was sold. It was a sure indication the ‘Youngistan’ generation would be the most sought after.

Want to LIVE longer? Stay fit..!

Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week is enough for older obese people to achieve moderate physical fitness that can help them live longer, a new study shows. The study conducted by Steven N Blair at University of South Carolina included 2,603 people in their 60s and older.

All the participants received detailed health examinations, including fitness test, measurements of their body mass index (BMI), waist size and body fat prior to the study, the online edition of the health magazine WebMD reported.

Twenty percent of the participants who performed worst on the treadmill test were considered least fit. Those who could not spend more than 7-8 minutes on the treadmill fell in this category. For women it was five minutes.

Better fitness was associated with less likelihood of diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Though, being overweight and obese was not a sole indicator of death risk. Among people who were fit, the survival rates were similar for normal weight, overweight, and obese people, the researchers said.

"People definitely don't need an excuse to gain weight but we have found that heavier and older people do not appear to be as sick," Blair said.

Staying fit is more important than losing fat, the report said.

Public health messages aimed at keeping older people healthy should focus more on physical activity including walking or engaging in similar activities and less on weight loss.

Pollution may affect Kids' IQ

Kids who live in neighborhoods with heavy traffic pollution have lower IQs and score worse on other tests of intelligence and memory than children who breathe cleaner air, a new study shows.

The effect of pollution on intelligence was similar to that seen in children whose mothers smoked 10 cigarettes a day while pregnant, or in kids who have been exposed to lead, Dr Shakira Franco Suglia of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, the study's lead author, told Reuters Health.

While the effect of pollution on cardiovascular and respiratory health has been studied extensively, less is known about how breathing dirty air might affect the brain, Suglia and her team wrote in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

To investigate, she and her colleagues looked at 202 Boston children 8 to 11 years old who were participating in a study of maternal smoking. The researchers related several measures of cognitive function to the children's estimated exposure to black carbon, a component of the particulate matter emitted in automobile and truck exhaust, particularly by diesel vehicles.

The more heavily exposed children were to black carbon, the lower were their scores on several intelligence tests.

She also pointed out that exposure to traffic pollution has been associated with a number of other harmful effects and that, short of moving away from heavy traffic areas, there's not much people can do to limit it. She and her colleagues suggest that traffic pollution may exert harmful effects by causing inflammation and oxidative damage to the brain.

US slowdown presents opportunities for India & China

The slow down in the US economy provides opportunities for countries like India and China to sustain their economic growth through increase in demand and consumption, a senior Chinese official said on Monday.

"Chinese and Indian Economies are highly complementary and have great potential for bilateral trade and investment relations," Deputy Chief of the Policy Research Office, Central Committee, China, Zheng Xinli said at a CII conference.

He said slowing down of the US economy should enable both countries to sustain economic growth.
The target fixed during President Hu Jintao's visit to India in 2006 to increase bilateral trade to 40 billion dollars by 2010 is also expected to be achieved this year, Xinli said.

India and China have very common challenges in Agriculture, Rural Industry and Social Security, he said, adding that China could learn from India in the services sector.

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) coming for IPO

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is one of the leading public Financial Institutions in Indian Power Infrastructure. REC is now entering into the capital markets on February 19, 2008 with a public issue of 156,120,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each. The issue closes on February 22, 2008 and the price band has been fixed at Rs 90 to Rs 105 per equity share of Rs 10 each.

Retail investors are right now scared to invest in new IPOs due to IPO withdrawals we have seen in recent past and poor performance of Reliance Power IPO. Rather as we said, it would be interesting to see the IPO listing of two new IPOs, KNR Constructions and OnMobile Global IPO.

Due to this turbulence in primary market, retail investors shall look at the reasonable price band REC IPO is offering and moreover there are good chances of REC IPO allotment in this situation.

"First six months of FY 08 seems to be quite good with topline at Rs 1,792 crore and PAT of Rs 523 crore, which results in an annualized EPS of Rs 13.40. Even on fully diluted equity of Rs 858.66 crore, this would be close to Rs 12.20. The present book value, as at 30-09-07, is at Rs 54, which would rise to Rs 63 to Rs 64, depending on the price discovery, post IPO. Post issue, the company’s market cap will be of Rs 7727.94 – 9015.93 crore."

IL & FS Investsmart Securities Limited, ICICI Securities Limited and SBI Capital Markets Limited are the book running lead managers for the Issue. The equity shares are proposed to be listed on the NSE and the BSE.

Reliance Power (IPO) To Give Bonus Shares - Free for All Shareholders

Reliance Power Board will give free bonus shares to all it’s shareholders to compensate the losses everyone of us suffered when the company was listed a week ago and now trading at Rs 375.

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s(ADAG) Reliance Power (NSE: rpower) shares are poised for up move on this news tomorrow on 18th Feb, Monday. This might lift the market up as well, the same way it pulled down the market on the Reliance Power IPO listing day of 11th Feb. On the listing day, Reliance Power share was down by 32%.

But Reliance Power board will not allot the bonus shares to company promoters. The company had issued the shares at Rs 450 while giving a discount Rs 20 a share to retail investors and accrued Rs 7,50,000 crore from IPO.

"The company said its board would consider the free bonus shares at a meeting next Sunday, February 24, to benefit over four million of its investors and the cost would be accepted by promoter group by way of diluting its shareholders. The company said that promoters would accept the dilution in their shareholding in the broader interest of investors.

Besides a proposal for issuing free bonus shares to all categories of shareholders, excluding promoters, the board would also consider other measures that could reduce the cost of Reliance Power Ltd shares below the IPO price of Rs 430 per share for retail investors, and Rs 450 per share for institutional and other categories of investors."

This is certainly good news to all kind of investors in Reliance Power IPO.

About INDIA

About INDIA

INDIA (Bhārat), officially the Republic of INDIA, is a sovereign nation in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east, INDIA has a coastline of 7,517 kilometers (4,671 mi). It borders Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Bangladesh and Burma to the east. In the Indian Ocean, INDIA is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia.

Four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated here, while Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by the British East INDIA Company from the early eighteenth century and colonized by the United Kingdom from the mid-nineteenth century, INDIA became a modern nation state in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by widespread nonviolent resistance.

INDIA is the world's twelfth largest economy at market exchange rates and the third largest economy in purchasing power. Economic reforms have transformed it into the second fastest growing large economy. A pluralistic, multilingual, and multiethnic society, INDIA is also home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats.

Independence and Republic of INDIA

During the first half of the twentieth century, a nationwide struggle for independence was launched by the Indian National Congress and other political organizations. In the 1920s and 1930, a movement led by Mahatma Gandhi, and displaying commitment to ahimsa, or non-violence, millions of protesters engaged in mass campaigns of civil disobedience. Finally, on 15 August 1947, INDIA gained independence from British rule, but was partitioned, in accordance to wishes of the Muslim League, along the lines of religion to create the Islamic nation state of Pakistan. Three years later, on 26 January 1950, INDIA became a republic and a new constitution came into effect.
